Why is Tom the Center of Your Universe?
Last year I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer for the second time. My husband, Tom, was with me every step of the way. My treatment started with a double mastectomy. Tom was with me in pre-op and so concerned about me that he fainted. This photo is of Tom and me in pre-op. After surgery he made sure I ate, did laundry, grocery shopped, and helped me shower. He changed drains and measured output. He went to chemo with me and made sure that my IV and I got out of the building quickly when a fire alarm went off during my first chemo. He shaved my head after most of my hair fell out. He was with me in the hospital when I underwent a DIEP flap reconstruction and this time he didn't faint. He stayed in the hospital with me and wouldn't let well meaning visitors touch me because of my weakened immune system. He took wonderful care of me during my recovery. I couldn't have had a better nurse. It's been a long journey but his love and care have never faltered. Tom is the center of my universe.
